Kindling Creativity is a blog that profiles how practitioners worldwide are creating a stimulating environment for their learners.
The two bloggers met during their Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at Bath Spa University 2013-14. Victoria had just completed her Dance and Learning and Teaching undergraduate degree at Middlesex, whilst Hayley studied English Literature with Cultural Studies at Bath Spa University, both gaining with a 2.2 award classification.
Our PGCE journey began with placements at St. Werburgh’s Park Nursery School which laid the foundations for our research project. St. Werburgh’s is a diverse inner city school that provides Early Years education to around 150 pupils ranging from 2-4 year olds. We spent 8 months in two separate classes with the 3 and 4 year olds. As this was the initial starting place for our research we will be continually referring back to the outstanding practice that we observed in this setting. However, here are a few of the core elements that we found best accommodated enabling environments and creativity for children.
