St. Werburgh’s Park named Helicopter Technique Centre of Excellence

St. Werburgh’s Park Nursery School is pleased to announce that we have just been awarded ‘Helicopter Technique Centre of Excellence’ status by Make Believe Arts.

This award is in recognition of the school’s work with Story Square which enables children to tell and act out their own and each other’s stories. There will be more news on this in the New Year when the award is presented.

MakeBelieve Arts have Helicopter Technique Centres of Excellence given to those select Early Years settings that deliver regular Helicopter sessions and are able to share the benefits of the approach with neighbouring schools.

The Helicopter Technique of Storytelling and Story Acting is based on the work of Vivian Gussin Paley, Patron to MakeBelieve Arts. Alongside the simplicity of their approach to storytelling is an ethos that is child-centred, creating a culture of curiosity and wonder at the dexterity of children’s imaginings during both the telling and the acting out of their stories.
