Introducing Creative Woodwork in Early Years Education

St. Werburgh’s Park Nursery School is pleased to announce a special session, Introducing Creative Woodwork in Early Years Education.

The session is delivered by Pete Moorhouse, a professional artist, who  has worked with young children in education for over 20 years and who works as Artist in Residence in several Early Years settings. He has spent the last five years researching woodwork in early years education, collaborating with practitioners from Japan and the USA who engage children in woodwork, sharing experiences, best practice and evaluating learning outcomes.

We will look at the theory and how woodwork meets many learning and development aspects of the EYFS.

We will talk about risk and safety issues.

There will be explanations of the most suitable tools for young children and instruction on how best to use them.

Explanations on how to set up a woodworking area.

A practical session for practitioners to explore the tools, gain confidence and share the experience of making creations in wood.

The event is happening on Saturday 18th April, 9.30am – 12.30pm at a cost of £50. Join us for this exciting session at St Werburgh’s Park Nursery School.
