First we found a pumpkin growing in our garden. The children were interested and wondered what it might be. We talked about what we thought might be inside the pumpkin. The children had lots of ideas and wanted to share their ideas using their marks.
“It’s got seeds and gooey stuff”
“There’s a monster truck inside!”
“I think there’s chocolate”
some children explained.
We then used a knife to cut open the pumpkin. The children used their senses to look, touch and smell discovering what was inside! They then used spoons, knifes, scissors and pegs to independently explore the pumpkin and discuss with their peers what they had found out.
