As you may know, we have had some challenges with cyclists on the pavement outside of our school. We have had several near misses and two significant accidents. One involved a member of staff and one a child. One resulted in broken fingers and one some stitches. The Governing Body contacted Thangam Debbonaire MP to request her support in our campaign to improve the safety of the pavements outside of the school. Thangam visited us on Friday 19th July, despite the rain. She was very supportive. She gave us excellent advice and will personally support our work. The plan is to introduce “parking buddies” in September and to approach Sustrans to paint the pavement outside the gate to make it really clear to cyclists. We hope they will then dismount and walk whilst passing our gate.
