A Letter From Our Headteacher Re: COVID-19 – January 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am sure that you are fully aware of the announcement last night from the Prime Minister. We will be moving into a National Lockdown from tomorrow, Wednesday 6th January, which will last until the end of February.

This means that Primary and Secondary Schools will close and children will move onto an online curriculum.

Mr Johnson also announced that Nursery Schools will continue to be fully open. This is obviously causing us great concern as we are keen that the transmission rate in Bristol is reduced and that the children and families in our community remain as safe as possible.

As you know, we are currently unable to open fully as staff are responding to union advice regarding the safety of having all children attending, with transmission rates in Bristol rising rapidly due to the new variant of the Covid-19 virus. The new variant is 70% more transmissible. We are providing places for children of key workers and those identified as vulnerable and will continue to do so at the present time. We will keep you informed of any changes at all as soon as we know them ourselves.

In the meantime, please look on our website for our Contingency Curriculum. There are lots of ideas for activities to support your children in the areas of Communication and Language, Literacy and Numeracy. We will also be adding short films of the activities planned as well as stories to share on our YouTube channel. There are still lots of stories from the first lockdown to watch for those that haven’t used it before.

We hope that you and your families stay safe and will keep in touch through phone calls, the YouTube channel and through our website.

Kind Regards,

Mandy Collier-King, Acting Head Teacher
