As you may know, Maintained Nursery Schools like ours, as well as many early years settings across the country, are struggling to survive because of chronic underfunding. Our challenges have been made so much worse with the pandemic and the impact it has had on our budgets. Many schools now face closure and many more are facing devastating cuts.
We know just how important it is to keep going, to stay open and to continue to offer high quality early years provision to our communities. We have all heard the Government say how valued and essential we are, but these words mean nothing if we are not given enough funding to stay open!
As part of our national campaign for funding – both long term and in response to covid – this week we are joining together across the country to raise our voices loud and clear.
With Budget Day on Wednesday, we want to send a collective message to the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, that if the Government really values us then they must fund us. On the eve of the Government’s budget announcement, we will be taking part in an Early Years Twitter storm and we would love if if you can join in too with your own messages.
Can you make a poster at home with your children and then take a selfie? Then get ready to tweet on Tuesday 2nd March between 7pm and 8pm using the hashtags:
#SaveOurNurseries #FundEarlyYears @RishiSunak
Please share widely with everyone you know!
Thank you for all your continued support.
