An Update from the Chair of Governors – 19th October 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you may know, Maintained Nursery Schools nationally have faced significant financial challenges over the last few years. Bristol Local Authority is dedicated to keeping its nursery schools open and has been working with schools to find sustainable solutions to doing just that whilst continuing to meet the needs of the children in our community. As a result, and from September 2022, we are now working to become a federation with two other nursery schools, those being The Limes Nursery School and Children’s Centre and Rosemary Nursery School. The Limes and Rosemary have already worked together as one during the last academic year and from September 2022 St. Werburgh’s Park Nursery has joined this group too with Catherine Bolam as Headteacher and Rachel Barnwell as Deputy Headteacher. This is an exciting opportunity for this school and will help support its sustainability.

We are writing as at this current time Catherine Bolam, Headteacher, is taking an extended break from school while she receives treatment for a health-related issue. We do not yet know how long the absence will last. We will keep you updated when we know more. In the meantime, Rachel Barnwell, Deputy Headteacher, will be taking over Catherine Bolam’s role. Rachel Barnwell will be happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have. You can reach her by emailing the school at stwerburghsn@bristol-schools.uk or by ringing 0117 9030323.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at Rebecca.nelson@bristol-schools.uk

Please rest assured that we aim to continue school life as normal, and that your child’s education should not be affected by this news.

Yours sincerely

Rebecca Nelson
