Behaviour Policy

Here at St Werburgh’s Park Nursery School, children learn to care and be compassionate. They learn to be responsible and respectful of themselves and others.

“We learn to say sorry. If you say mean things, that can hurt someone’s feelings”

– Matthew age 4

Children are encouraged to resolve problems by following six steps of “Conflict Resolution”:

  1. Approach calmly; stop any hurting
  2. Acknowledge how children are feeling
  3. Find out what the problem is
  4. Restate the problem
  5. Find solutions together
  6. Be prepared to give follow-up support

“I have learnt to make some friends. I have learnt to be kind” – Lola age 4

This consistent approach is embedded across the setting. Parents have ongoing opportunities to find out about these strategies through our training sessions.
