Volunteering and having a Student Placement is an important way in which the local community supports us and in which we support the local community. We always require committed volunteers and students to support us in the many and varied aspects of our work. From helping to set up and tidy away our community groups, to providing support for staff through your skills in a community language, to maintaining and organising our play and learning resources to the highest possible standard, to supporting children in classrooms, there are any number of ways in which we would like to make use of and help you to develop your skills.
In order to be able to offer you a placement that best meets both your needs and the needs of the setting, it is essential that we know as much as possible about you and the skills and qualities that you could bring to our work. All volunteers must fill in the Volunteer Application Form which can be downloaded, or a paper copy can be picked up from reception. All Students requiring placements must fill in the Student Application Form; this includes work experience.
If we feel that we could offer you a placement that would be beneficial both to you and to our setting, then we will call you in for a brief meeting to introduce you to the setting and to discuss and agree the options. If offered a placement we would ensure you are assigned to a classroom with a supervisor to enable you to learn the key skills and knowledge of working within early years.
